“Baba, one doctor came here the other day, and told me something interesting,” I
told my father.
“What is it sweetie, what did he say?” he asked while caressing my hair.
“He said they freeze people after they are dead and bring them back when they have
found a medicine for their illness,” I replied.
My father looked at me quizzically.
“I was just thinking....., if I do that do you think they will find a treatment
and bring me back...., make me well?”
I said avoiding his eyes.
I heard him sniff and audibly take a deep breath.
-FROZEN MAIDEN-
Lying in her hospital bed, young Leila Ahamad
stared at the pale ceiling, prayed for the god’s help.
Her chemotherapy was failing, and her condition
was slowly deteriorating. She needs a donor to
save her. She noticed a spider web. A fly caught
in the web struggling to escape and the spider
moving to kill the fly. The spider would suck
the life out of the pray for its own survival.
The bone marrow donation came from
a seven years old girl who died from a
missile attack.
If Leila’s bone marrow transplant didn’t
work, her only hope is to had her body
preserved until a cure is found.
Will Leila get a life beyond life, a life that fulfils her
dreams and desires or is it all but a dream,
a very grim one?
